ABOUT US
Calm Heart Yoga is a space of happiness, peace, and renewal - a place to pause, breathe, and reconnect with yourself.
Founded by Sally MacGowan, a Senior Yoga Teacher (Yoga Australia Level 3) and registered Counsellor (ACA), Calm Heart Yoga offers small group and private yoga and meditation classes in Frankston South and Hampton, with live Zoom options to join from home.

Everyone is welcome here. We’re an inclusive, body-positive, trauma-informed, and neuro-affirming space where yoga is about how you feel, not how you look. Practices are adapted to meet you where you are - in body, mind, and heart.
Each class weaves together gentle movement, breathwork, and meditation, grounded in the yogic principle of ahimsa - non-violence and kindness toward self and others.
Alongside studio classes, Sally offers mindfulness, counselling, and wellbeing programs for workplaces, schools, and community groups - helping people build calm, awareness, and connection in everyday life. At Calm Heart Yoga, peace is a practice and every breath is a place to begin.

Founder of Calm Heart Yoga.

Sally MacGowan is a devoted teacher, counsellor, and lifelong student of yoga and mindfulness. She first stepped onto the mat at the St Kilda Iyengar Yoga School in 1996 and was immediately drawn to the deep sense of calm and connection the practice offered - a thread that continues to guide her work today.
A Senior Level 3 Yoga Teacher (Yoga Australia) and registered Counsellor (ACA), Sally has over 25 years of practice and 18 years of teaching experience. Her approach integrates yoga, mindfulness, counselling, and somatic therapy, offering a holistic and heart-centred path to wellbeing.
Grounded in trauma-informed and neuro-affirming principles, Sally supports each person to reconnect with their body’s wisdom, build self-awareness, and cultivate inner calm.
Her extensive training includes the VIYETT Advanced Diploma of Yoga Teaching, Yoga Graduate Training (India), Prenatal & Postnatal Training, Experiential Anatomy with Judith Lasater, and a Diploma of Counselling (ACA-accredited), alongside ongoing studies in Somatic Experiencing®, Somatic Trauma Therapy, Autism Clinical Specialist Training and Modern Qigong.

For many years, Sally taught as a senior teacher trainer with the Victorian Institute of Yoga Education and Teacher Training, mentoring new teachers in pranayama, philosophy, and embodied practice.

Through Calm Heart Yoga, she offers classes, counselling, and mindfulness programs in Frankston South, Hampton, and online - as well as workplace and community wellbeing sessions. Her classes are meditative, therapeutic, and nurturing - weaving together gentle movement, breathwork, somatic awareness, and the heart of yoga philosophy in a safe and inclusive space.

Sally sees yoga not just as movement, but as a way of being — a daily practice of kindness, presence, and connection with every breath.
